My name is Thi (pronounced “thee”). I am a Physics Ph.D. Candidate at University of Colorado Boulder, working in the Sun group at JILA.

My research tackles a key challenge in experimental quantum optics: to make light and matter talk to each other efficiently. I work with microscopic cavities and solid state emitters such as semiconductor quantum dots and defect centers in solids. Cavities help improve interactions between emitters and photons, thereby enabling better quantum optics experiments, besides quantum technologies (networking, sensing, computing).

Previously, I worked with cold Rubidium atoms at Middlebury College. I went to high school in both Viet Nam and Armenia, and colleges in the U.S. and the U.K. (and 10 other countries during Semester at Sea). As an effect (or a cause), I love traveling. I grew up near the ocean but also fell in love with Colorado mountains. I am a Gryffindor, a steminist, an amateur musician, a Taylor Swift fan (but not quite a Swiftie), a hobby podcaster, and many more things.
